Introducing Roots & Boots: Growing Deep Roots in Faith, Fun, and Farm Life

This summer, something new is blooming out at Alpacas In Sunnyslope—and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We’re launching our very first summer camp: Roots & Boots, created especially for youth ages 9–13. It's more than just a camp—it’s an invitation for kids to experience the joy of God’s creation, build life skills, discover new talents, and grow strong roots in their faith and identity.

At the heart of this camp is our guiding verse:

"Consider how the wildflowers grow." — Luke 12:27

Just like wildflowers, children grow best when they are rooted deeply—in love, in truth, in community. And like wildflowers, their unseen roots are what help them stand tall, thrive in all kinds of seasons, and even nourish the world around them.

What is Roots & Boots all about?

Roots & Boots is designed to give kids a week of adventure, connection, and rooted in God's truth—all while learning real-life farm skills and experiencing the wonder of God's handiwork up close.

Here’s just a glimpse of what campers will get to do:

Spend time with our alpacas and other farm animals,aining hands-on experience in caring for animals with respect and care
Get their hands in the soil—planting, cultivating and learning how the roots of wildflowers (and kids!) help sustain and heal.
Explore God’s Word in nature, discovering what it means to grow strong and steady in His love.
Learn teamwork through fun and meaningful group challenges designed to help kids work together, communicate, and support one another.
Try their hand at archery, learning not just how to hit the mark, but how to stay focused, grounded, and rooted in purpose.
Create through woodworking and crafts, unlocking the God-given creativity in every child.
Slow down, unplug, and breathe in the peace of wide open skies, quiet pastures, and the faithful rhythm of life on the farm.

Rooted in Purpose

At Alpacas In Sunnyslope, we believe that childhood is sacred—and that our youth thrive where they are seen, loved, and reminded of who they are in Christ. We created Roots & Boots to help plant seeds that will grow for years to come: seeds of confidence, faith, resilience, and wonder.

Our prayer is that every child who steps foot on the farm this summer leaves knowing they are:

Deeply loved by God
Uniquely made with purpose
Part of a story bigger than themselves

And like the wildflowers, their roots will go deep, drawing strength from the One who made them and surrounding them with a community that will cheer them on as they grow.

While this first camp is specially crafted for 9–13 year olds, we’re just getting started. We plan to offer more opportunities for a variety of ages in the future—and we’d love for your family to be part of this journey.
